Champions Trophy Recap: A Look At ICC KnockOut Trophy 2000- Winner, Most Runs, Wickets, Player Of The Series

Champions Trophy Recap: The second edition in 2000 was played under the name of ICC KnockOut Trophy in Kenya, before it changed to Champions Trophy in the following tournaments.

The tournament featured all Test-playing nations, along with top Associate teams Bangladesh and hosts Kenya. With 11 teams competing, three had to be eliminated before the quarter-finals.

Champions Trophy

To determine the final eight, a playoff round was held among the six lowest-ranked teams. The five highest-ranked teams based on the 1999 Cricket World Cup seedings secured direct entry into the knockout stage. Meanwhile, the remaining three spots were determined through pre-quarter-final matches, held from October 3 to 5, featuring six lower-ranked teams from the same seedings.

New Zealand emerged victorious, securing the championship title and a prize of US$250,000 after defeating India in the final.
