Champions Trophy 2025 : ''Didn't Expect Ravindra Jadeja To Be In Squad''- Ex CSK Star Makes Honest Confession About India All-Rounder
Champions Trophy 2025 : India's decision to include three left-arm spinners in their Champions Trophy squad has raised eyebrows, with former cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath expressing his surprise over Ravindra Jadeja's selection.
Jadeja, who last played an ODI in the 2023 World Cup final, now finds himself in contention for a spot in the playing XI.

Alongside Jadeja, the Men in Blue have also picked Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, bolstering their spin attack for the tournament in Dubai, where conditions are expected to assist slow bowlers. However, Badrinath, who played alongside Jadeja at Chennai Super Kings, questioned the logic behind including a player who might not fit into the starting lineup.
"There are a few spots which are a little bit tricky," Badrinath said on Star Sports. "I am honestly surprised Ravindra Jadeja is in the squad. I didn't expect him to be in the squad because there is very little space for him in the XI."
He further explained, "So why would you actually take a player in the squad who might not feature in the actual playing XI? So that is a little bit tricky."
India's spin-heavy approach is understandable given the slow nature of Dubai pitches, but the team management will have to carefully balance their lineup to ensure the right combination.
At the time of writing this article, Jadeja is playing the 1st ODI of the 3-match series against England in Nagpur. He dismissed Joe Root and looks in fine touch. This particular series will serve as an ideal opportunity to fine-tune their squad before the Champions Trophy. With Dubai conditions in mind, the series could provide valuable insights into India's bowling combination and whether their spin-heavy strategy will pay off in the high-stakes tournament.
