Case filed against Team India, Pawar for 'cheating fans' before WC

Hardwar, Aug 9 (UNI) A case against Indian cricketers and BCCI president Sharad Pawar has been filed in a local court for ''failing to deliver on tall claims'' made before the World Cup in the Caribbean.

The chief judicial magistrate of Hardwar, Vindhyachal Singh accepted for hearing a complaint case filed by a local advocate Arun Bhadoria against Caribbean-bound Indian cricketers and BCCI president Sharad Pawar for ''for making a mockery of the countrymen's feelings and ''cheating'' them after making tall claims in the run-up to the World Cup.

The pliant has alleged that the cricket team gave false hopes about victory of the team.

He further alleged that Team India played with people's feelings and cheated them.

''Swayed by the hype created by the hyperbolic claims of the team members, many cricket lovers purchased TV sets.

''However, in spite of huge earnings from advertisements, the performance of the players in the match was highly disappointing and below their dignity,'' he said.

Singh also charged the BCCI president with wrong selection of the players and ''carelessness'' in handling the affairs.

The CJM has directed the complainant and his witnesses to appear before the court on August 13 to get their statements recorded.
