Benchstrength should be tested if Yuvi's poor form continues: Kapi

New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Criticising Yuvraj Singh's series of poor performances Down Under, former India captain Kapil Dev said the left-hander should be given opportunities only to an extent and not beyond it.

Talking to the mediapersons here today, Kapil Dev said ''If a player is playing well he should be given chances but if he is not scoring runs, others should be given an opportunity to prove themselves.'' He said the current Indian squad has no dearth of talent and has some really good bowlers who have proved themselves in the ongoing CB series in Australia.

He added that the young bowlers should work on their fitness and said ''If you get injured regularly, it does affect your performance, therefore, India's young bowlers should look to keep themselves fit.'' During the Test series in Australia, pacer Zaheer Khan was sent back home following his injury whereas left-arm bowler RP Singh was also flown back before the ODI tri-series began.
