Bedi to BCCI: Place your house in order
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) Former captain Bishen Singh Bedi lashed out at BCCI for its policy of vendetta against Indian Cricket League (ICL) and instead asked it to ''put its own house in order'' before targeting the cricketers.
''This (cricket) is not a personal game, why should it (BCCI) stop any player from joining the league,'' Bedi said sternly.
''Can't an employee of an organisation have the right to change job according to his wish? How can they ban a player ? It shouldn't be,'' Mr Bedi said on the sidelines of a book release function here yesterday.
Mr Bedi, however, scoffed at a question whether he will consider joining the breakway league, saying ''I will not fit in with them.'' When asked if the league is anyway reminiscent of the Kerry Packer series which is why the BCCI may be afraid of it, Mr Bedi said ''It (ICL) is not so and the Board shouldn't be afraid of it.'' Agreeing with the big-three's decision to opt out of the Twenty20 World Cup, the former left-arm spin wizard said, ''Its their decision to decide, but in my opinion Twenty20 is not their (seniors) ball game.'' Lambasting the BCCI over the issue of foreign coaches, Mr Bedi took a strong stance, saying ''We alaways go after white-skined people though we have talented former cricketers to take up the reigns of the team.''
