BCCI to use software to assess domestic umpires' performances

Mumbai, July 10 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to intorduce a software in the system of video recording of domestic matches which would help them in assessing the performances of the umpires on a regular basis.

The BCCI's umpires committee, which met here, was given a demonstration by two computer experts who have developed the software.

''The software will enable us to assess the performance of the umpires in various matches in tournaments like the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy so that we can then grade these umpires later,'' said BCCI's joint secretary M P Pandove.

''But the members were not fully satisfied with the programme presented to us and wanted some modifications done before they come back to us after a week's time,'' Pandove said.

The BCCI has introduced the system of video recording of domestic matches since last season.
