BCCI to announce world Twenty20 league tomorrow

New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) Apparently to steal a march ahead of 'rival' Indian Cricket League's Twenty20 tournament next month, the BCCI is all set to announce its ambitious international Twenty20 league plans here tomorrow.

Cricket top brass from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Australia and India are expected to discuss the details of the proposed world league, widely considered based on UEFA Champions League.

BCCI Working Committee will also deliberate on the project tomorrow and ratify it.

BCCI Vice-President Lalit Modi, the mastermind behind the project, has been working on it for quite a while but after the emergence of ICL and more 50 first class cricketers -- mostly from Hyderabad, Punjab and Bengal -- switching sides, the Board expedited the process.

Modi, Punjab Cricket Association chief I S Bindra and BCCI Chief Adminstrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty reportedly had a meeting at Singapore with representatives of Australian, English and South African Cricket Boards to finalise the details.

The league is expected to kick off in April next year with squads from India, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa taking part in it.
