BCCI castigates 'Colonel' for remark on Sehwag's inclusion
New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The BCCI today castigated Dilip Vengsarkar for his remark on Sehwag's inclusion in India's World Cup squad at the behest of captain Rahul Dravid, saying that it was not right for the chief selector to reveal selection matters.
Board chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty said Vengsarkar's comments could rack up fresh controversies ahead of India's campaign in the mega event in the Caribbean.
''It is not right to comment on team selection now. I wish Vengsarkar had refrained from making such comments at a time when the team had already left for the showpiece event,'' Shetty told a TV channel.
''The code of conduct applies to everybody, players and selectors,'' he said.
In an interview to CNN-IBN, Vengsarkar had dropped a bombshell by saying that out-of-form Sehwag could find a place in the squad only because of Dravid's insistence.
The selectors initially decided to exclude Sehwag but eventually agreed at Dravid's behest, Vengsarkar had said.
