BBL 2025 Draft: First Nominations Announced, Team Order Revealed - India, Pakistan stars Feature

The draft list for the Big Bash League 2025 has been announced and a few top international names are featuring in the list.

Ahead of the premier T20 competition of Australia, Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the list of players who will be up for grabs. Scheduled for June 19, 2025, the draft will mark the start of recruitment ahead of the 2025-26 Big Bash League season.

What is the BBL Draft and How it Works?

The BBL draft is a process in which the teams pick their players. Instead of an auction, the teams are serially placed in a draft, and when the turn comes, each team picks one of their own choice. The BBL draft will be comprised of multiple rounds, with the serial reversing in each to give fair chances to all teams.

Who will be in the Draft?

Star Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has been included in the draft. Apart from that, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan are also among the list of players. In the Women's BBL draft, India Women stars Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey have made the cut in the first set.

Drafting Requirements & Player Rules

• Minimum Overseas Players: Each club must draft at least three overseas players in total. This includes any players that were pre-signed before the draft.
• Pre-Signed Players: Players contracted by a club before the draft do not appear in the general nomination pool. However, the club must still use a draft pick that matches the player’s agreed salary band to officially select them (e.g., Platinum player requires a Platinum-round pick).
• Passing Rule: Clubs are allowed to pass on one draft pick, but only if they still meet the three-overseas-player minimum by the end of the draft.
