Bathinda to have international level cricket stadium

Moga, Sep 24 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will lay the foundation stone of Rs 32 crore international level cricket stadium at Bathinda on October 14.

The stadium, to be equipped better than the Mohali Cricket stadium, would be constructed within two years, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Singh Badal said here last evening.

Soon after its completion, the new cricket stadium Bathinda would be hosting international cricket matches, he said.

To popularise cricket in the state, the government proposed to set up 10 cricket stadi in various districts, Mr Badal added.

The Punjab government and the BCCI agreed to set up cricket academics in a joint venture in various schools of the state to provide cricket coaching facilities for which infrastructure would be provided by the BCCI and the remaining facilities by the state government, he said.
