Australia beat New Zealand by eight runs
SYDNEY, Jan 28 (Reuters) Australia beat New Zealand by eight runs in a high-scoring tri-series one-day international at the WACA in Perth today.
Ricky Ponting scored 111 and Matthew Hayden 117 to help Australia post a massive record total of 343 for five from their 50 overs.
New Zealand made 335-5 in reply with Jacob Oram making registering the fastest one-day hundred by a New Zealander in his 101 not out after opener Lou Vincent made 66.
Australia's victory extended their unbeaten run in the competition to six matches. New Zealand are in second place with one win ahead of their next match against England on Tuesday.
