650 contestants to participate in 11th AP Karate-do tourney

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 7 (UNI) As many as 650 contestants will participate in the 11th Andhra Pradesh invitational Karate-do tournament, which begins here at the indoor stadium on February 10 and 11.

Talking to reporters here, Andhra Pradesh-Japan Shotokan Karate Club President Badeti Kota Rama Rao said the Karate-do was introduced in National Games scheduled on February 16 and 17 in Asom.

The competitions would be held for boys, girls above eight years and men and women.

Japan Shotokan Karate Organisation Chief Instructor Paranjeet Singh said representations were made to International Olympic Committee to introduce Karate-do in the Olympic games.
