Sridhar beaten by Hidayat in semi-finals of Asian Badminton

Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Apr 14 (UNI) Anup Sridhar's dream run in the Yonex-Sunrise Asian Badminton Championship ended with a straight set 19-21, 14-21 loss to Olympic and Asian Games champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia in the singles competition here today.

The world number 35 Indian, who reached the last four with a brilliant come-from-behind victory over world number 12 Shoji Sato of Japan, was denied a title round appearance by redoubtable Hidayat who had shocked defending champion and top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia en-route to the semi-finals.

Sridhar had also lost in the semi-finals of the German Open Grand Prix last month after scoring upset victories over higher rated players.
