Asiad-Badminton-men

DOHA, Dec 5 (Reuters) China overcame a rare loss from world number one Lin Dan today to beat South Korea 3-2 and win the men's badminton team gold title for the first time in 16 years.

China's boisterous, flag-waving supporters were stunned into silence when Lee Hyun-il upset Lin in the opening singles to put defending champions South Korea ahead.

But China, who had not won since the 1990 Beijing Games, clawed their way back through Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun, who beat Lee Yong-dae and Jung Jae-sung in the first doubles.

Chen Jin put China 2-1 up with his singles win over Park Sung-hwan, but the Koreans forced a decided after Lee Jae-jin and Hwang Ji-man beat China's Zheng Bo and Guo Zhendong in the second doubles.

That set the stage for Bao Chunlai in the final singles match, and he crushed Shon Seung-mo 21-9 21-8 to give China the gold.

Indonesia and Malaysia claimed the bronze medals.
