Saina to be awarded Rs 2 lakh for performing well in Olympic

Lucknow, Aug 18 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association has announced to honour Saina Nehwal with a cash prize of Rs two lakh for her illustrious performance in Beijing Olympic-2008.

UP Badminton Association president Prabhat C Chaturvedi today said that the assocation has decided to award Nehwal for reaching the quarter-finals stage.

Besides, the association would honour her coach Pullela Gopichand with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. An equal amount would be awarded to Anoop Shridhar for his performances during the last World Badminton Championships and also in the current Olympic.

Chaturvedi further informed that the above would be honoured during the Syed Modi Memorial International Badminton Tournament at Lucknow from December 18 to 22.
