Saina enters quarters of Thailand Open

Bangkok, Jun 26 (UNI) Saina Nehwal thrashed Nguyen Nhung Le Ngoc of Vietnam 21-9 21-6 to enter the quarterfinals of the Thailand Open here today.

Saina will now face top seed Xingfang Xie of China tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in women's doubles, seventh seeds Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian were shown the door by Singaporean duo Shinta Mulia Sari and Lei Yao 21-17, 15-21 21-10 in a well fought first round encounter.

India faced disappointment in the men's section with Anup Sridhar, and P Kashyap losing their respective singles matches.

While Anup was beaten 11-21, 26-28 by Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand, Kashyap went down to local favourite Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk 21-14, 21-19.
