Greater Mumbai District badminton tourney from July 7-12

Mumbai, Jul 5 (UNI) Leading shuttlers will feature in the Greater Mumbai District Badminton Championship, to be held at the Cricket Club of India's Sir Nowroji Saklatwala Courts from July 7 to 12.

The tournament, sponsored by Manubhai R Shah and Prem Co. Global Ltd, is being conducted by the Greater Mumbai District Badminton Association (GMDBA) and the CCI, a release issued here today said.

Mangrish Palekar is the men's top seed, while the Ghate sisters, Vinita and Gauri are the women's No 1 and 2 seeds, respectively.

Challenging Palekar will be second seed Nigel D'Sa, third seed Yogesh Padukone and No 4 Harish Zaveri.

The tournament has attracted an impressive 284 entries and will have 18 categories including men, women, boys and girls under-19, under-16, under-13 and under-10, singles and doubles.

Seedings: Men: 1. Mangrish Palekar, 2. Nigel D'Sa, 3. Yogesh Padukone, 4. Harsh Zaveri.

Women: 1. Vinita Ghate, 2. Gauri Ghate.
