Commentary
Young Madhya Pradesh pacer Kuldeep Sen impressed with his performance in his debut game as he successfully defended 14 runs to help Rajasthan Royals edge Lucknow Super Giants by 3 runs in a last-over thriller.
Marcus Stoinis tried to showcase his big-hitting skills in the final minutes of the game and kept his team in the hunt but perhaps it was too much for him at the end.
The Aussie all-rounder needed 15 runs to help LSG win the fourth game on the trot but his team fell short by 3 runs.
Trent Boult's opening burst with the new ball put LSG on the backfoot as they lost two in two balls in the run chase of 166.
Captain Samson's decision to keep Yuzvendra Chahal's second spell at the back end of the innings paid off as the leg-spinner brought his team into the game.
In his final over of the match, Chahal completed 150 wickets in IPL. Chahal finished with 4/41 and also grabbed the Purple Cap.
Rajasthan Royals had the worst start in the match against a higher-ranked side after being put in to bat.
Their top-four batters were back in the dugout inside 10 overs courtesy of some disciplined bowling effort from Avesh Khan, Jason Holder and Krishnappa Gowtham. Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson and Rassie van der Dussen were dismissed early.
But Shimron Hetmyer's 59* off 32 and his fifty-plus partnership with R Ashwin helped Royals post a respectable 165 for 6 in 20 overs.
This game will also be remembered for the fact that R Ashwin became the first player in the IPL history to 'retire out' himself.
With this win, RR reached the top of the points table.

Rajasthan Royals will look to bounce back when they face new entrants and in-form Lucknow Super Giants in match 20 of IPL 2022 tonight at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Sanju Samson-led Royals opened their season with two wins in a row against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, but suffered a defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their most recent outing in 2022.
Samson's men will hope it's just a minor blip and look to get back among the wins with the likes of Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal also maintaining their form. But, the inaugural champions will be up against a confident side.
KL Rahul's LSG bounced back from the campaign opening loss to Gujarat Titans, with three back-to-back wins against Chennai Super Kings, SRH and Delhi Capitals in their most recent match.
Rahul and Co have been boosted by all the players stepping up when called upon, especially Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda and more importantly the youngster Ayush Badoni. With the ball too, they have performed as a team.
This will be the first meeting between the two sides and it will be both teams' second match at the Wankhede, where they have suffered defeats.
