Commentary
Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in a lopsided contest and jumped to the second spot in the points table.
Chasing a target of 182, LSG batters failed to perform as a team and could only muster 163/8.
Skipper KL Rahul (30) and Krunal Pandya (42) were the only positives with the bat for LSG but they too failed to convert it into big knocks.
RCB bowlers kept a tight leash around their opponents all through the game.
Aussie pacer Hazlewood picked up four wickets and starred with the ball for RCB. LSG kept losing wickets at regular intervals and that proved fatal for them.
Earlier in the day, leading from the front captain Faf du Plessis played a typical knock and helped RCB post a competitive 181 for 6 after being put in to bat first.
The RCB skipper posted his highest-ever score in IPL as he scored 96 off 64, though he missed out on a well deserved century.
Du Plessis took his time to settle down and then played according to the situation and exploded in the death overs.
However, Virat Kohli's agonies were prolonged as he was dismissed for a golden duck.
LSG bowlers started really well but in the end, they ended up leaking runs which proved them costly. Their leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi had a forgettable evening as remained wicketless and pretty expensive too.
Harshal Patel to Ravi Bishnoi. Off cutter length ball, outside off stump moves in front Slog, missed for no runs, fielded by Karthik. A comfortable victory for RCB as they win by 18 runs. RCB bowlers produced an excellent performance and restricted the LSG batters. Faf du Plessis is adjudged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance with the bat. Cheers.
