Punjab Kings kept their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 play-off hopes alive with a 8-wicket victory over table-toppers Gujarat Titans at the Dr Dy Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
After Kagiso Rabada's four-wicket haul restricted GT to 133/8 in the allotted 20 overs, opener Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone played crucial knocks to hand PBKS their fifth win of the season with 24 balls to spare.
While Dhawan scored an unbeaten 62 off 53 balls, Livingstone smashed 30 off 10 balls taking Mohammed Shami to the cleaners in the 16th over, which cost 28 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa also contributed with 40 off 28 balls. For GT, Shami and Lockie Ferguson took a wicket each.
Earlier, opting to bat, GT were dug out of trouble by youngster Sai Sudarshan, who scored his first fifty in IPL, taking the team to a respectable total. For PBKS, Rabada took 4 wickets for 33 runs, while Liam Livingstone, Arshdeep Singh and Rishi Dhawan took a wicket each.
The result takes PBKS to fifth spot with 10 points from 10 matches and dents current table-toppers GT's Net Run Rate (NRR).

Hardik Pandya's GT are unbeaten in 5 and are well set on sealing a play-off spot with their eighth win of the season when they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in their recent outing in IPL 2022.
Mayank Agarwal led PBKS, on the other hand, has won 4 and lost 5 of their 9 matches so far this season. PBKS started well, but have lost their way in the last few matches, beating only the struggling Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in their last 5 matches.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams in IPL. Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings in the reverse fixture, which saw one of the best finishes of this season, two sixes in the last two balls by Rahul Tewatia off Odean Smith to take his team home.
