Commentary
Sai Sudarshan slammed a brilliant half-century under pressure while Impact substitute Vijay Shankar made an impact with the bat with a vital contribution with the bat as Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in match number 7 of IPL 2023.
Chasing a target of 163, the Hardik Pandya-led side reached home in 18.1 overs and subjected hosts Delhi Capitals to their second straight defeat of the season.
With Rishabh Pant - the injured DC captain - in attendance from the balcony at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the hosts hoped for a win in front of a passionate home crowd but they failed to put enough runs on the board on a spicy Delhi track.
Sudarshan (62* off 48) and David Miller (31* off 16) were unbeaten in the run chase and closed the match for GT - who won their tenth match out of 11 chasing.
After they lost openers Wriddhiman Saha (14) and Shubman Gill (14) were bowled by speedster Anrich Nortje (2/39), and captain Hardik Pandya (5) joined them soon in the dugout. Hardik was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed and left his team in the lurch.
As DC bowlers were breathing fire on a bowling-friendly pitch, Shankar and Sudarshan weathered the storm early on and stitched a crucial partnership of 53 runs for the fourth wicket and brought their team into the game.
Once Shankar was trapped in front by Mitchell Marsh for 23-ball 29, Miller and Sudarshan finished it for the Titans.
Earlier in the day, Mohammed Shami (3/41), Rashid Khan (3/31) and Alzarri Joseph (2/29) were in menacing form and kept giving jolt to David Warner & his Co. and prevented the hosts from posting a big total.
Axar Patel (36 off 22) was the only highlight with the bat for Delhi Capitals as their top-order once again failed to live up to the expectations.
Mitchell Marsh to David Miller. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot working, to square leg for 2 runs, fielded by Yadav. That's it! A comfortable victory for Gujarat Titans as they win by six wickets. Sai Sudharshan played a responsible knock with an unbeaten 62, and David Miller played a fine cameo to help his team chase down the target. Delhi bowlers tried their best but couldn't break the Titan's middle-order. Sai Sudharshan is the Player of the Match. Cheers.

In their first home match since 2019, Delhi Capitals welcome defending champions Gujarat Titans tonight for match 7 of IPL 2023 to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
DC led by David Warner will look to get back among the win column after suffering a 50-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in their campaign openers, while GT led by Hardik Pandya will look to carry on the momentum from season opening win over Chennai Super Kings.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides in IPL with GT holding the advantage, having won the only previous encounter against DC. This, however, will be the Titans' first visit to the Kotla.
Both sides will be boosted by the arrival of the South African players, who were away on international duty when their respective franchises played their first match of the season.
Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi join the DC camp, while GT's star batter David Miller joins up with the squad. The arrival of South African pacers adds a selection headache for DC, who will need to drop one of Rilee Rossouw or Rovman Powell to bring in Nortje.
