Royal Challengers Bangalore bounced back to winning ways as they clinched a 16-run win over Delhi Capitals in match no. 27 of the ongoing IPL season at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
After being invited to bat, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik hammered half-centuries to guide the Challengers to a strong total. On a day when the RCB top-order failed to fire, it was Maxwell's 55 off 34, and DK's unbeaten 66 that saw the Challengers post a strong total.
In reply, the DC openers got the chase off to a strong start, with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw scoring 50 off 28 for the opening stand. Mohammed Siraj handed RCB the first wicket, removing Prithvi Shaw (16 off 13) in the powerplay. Mitchell Marsh struggled to put bat to ball and with Hasaranga removing Warner (66 off 38) the asking rate climbed.
Skipper Rishabh Pant, who was dropped by Hasaranga on 2, lifted DC's hopes with a sizzling 34 off 17, before Kohli picked up a stunning one-handed catch to remove Pant.
Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood led the bowling attack as DC struggled to build partnerships and were restricted to 173/7 to fall to their third loss of the season. RCB on the other hand, picked up their fourth win.
