Commentary

Abhishek Sharma scored his career-best 75 off 50 after the bowlers put up a disciplined show as Sunrisers Hyderabad tasted their first success in the tournament.

Sharma, the young left-handed batter, shined with his maiden fifty in his 25th IPL game as SRH thrashed CSK by 8 wickets.

The youngster who opened the innings with captain Kane Williamson in the run chase of 155 silenced the critics with his match-winning show. Williamson was dismissed for 32 by pacer Mukesh Choudhary.

Then Sharma and Rahul Tripathi put their team in the driver's seat with their quickfire 56-run stand. By the time Sharma was dismissed in the 18th over bowled by Dwayne Bravo, the Orange Army were already in control. They finally reached home in 17.4 overs as Tripathi (39* off 15) hit the winning boundary.

Earlier in the day, CSK once again had a horrific start in the powerplay as their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa were dismissed inside the first six overs.

Moeen Ali was the top scorer for the Ravindra Jadeja-led side as the left-handed batter scored 48 off 35 balls.

Ambati Rayudu (27 off 27) and captain Jadeja (23 off 15) were the only batters who scored more than 20 runs for the defending champions.

T Natarajan (2/30) and Washington Sundar (2/21) were the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers. The rest of the bowlers also kept the leash tight around CSK batters and never let them score freely by restricting them to 154/7 in 20 overs.

With this win, SRH have finally opened their account in the points table while CSK have been subjected to their fourth consecutive defeat.

This is only the second time in CSK's history that they've lost four games in a row.
